The doctrinal beliefs of Assemble Church

The Trinity

The Trinity (often God, or The Godhead) has existed for eternity beyond the constraints of space and time. He is one God in three distinct persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person of The Trinity is equally and fully God.

The Bible

The Bible is God’s written Word addressed to all people in all the world. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Bible is the epitome of pure truth, and is entirely inerrant. It is God’s Special Revelation on earth, which points readers to the purposes and nature of God.

God The Father

God the Father, the first member of The Trinity, is great. He is all powerful, ever present, unchanging, all knowing, worthy of our worship, and Holy. He is the creator of all that is seen and unseen. He is loving, compassionate, and faithful. We call him Our Father because we are adopted into his everlasting family as sons and daughters of the Most High.

God The Son

Jesus Christ, second member of The Trinity, is fully human, and yet fully God. Jesus is the only way by which we may be brought back into a right relationship with God. He lived a perfect life, such that He could be a substitution for us in satisfying God’s demands for perfection. His defeat of death through His resurrection means that we too may enjoy everlasting life.

God The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit, third member of The Trinity, is the person by whom we may see Jesus. By His power our hearts we are convicted of our sin, and truly able to see Jesus and witness the Kingdom of Heaven. He is our guide on earth, He is our comforter, and He gives us the spiritual gifts that we need to partake in our mission on earth.

Life After Death

Every person will exist forever, this has always been the plan. Our choice is whether we spend our eternity with God, or without Him. To be with God forever is Heaven. To be completely absent of the presence, love, peace, and joy of God forever, is Hell.

Humanity

Men and women are made in the image of God. We are a special creation, above other animals and even angels. We were created to be in continuous fellowship with God. It is God’s will that every person would repent of their sin, accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, and exist forever with God. Every person is unique, carefully crafted by the Father, has dignity, and should be respected and loved.

Sin

The world was not created with sin, but rather sin was introduced into the world when the first people deliberately disobeyed the instructions of God. Since that time humanity has continually turned their back on God and His will. Actions and thoughts that are antithetical to God’s will and nature are sin. Our sins against God create a barrier between us and Him and create a huge debt which we cannot pay.

Salvation

Salvation is the means by which we can attain a full and loving relationship with God. Jesus’ death on the cross spilled the blood of Jesus, paying our debts. His resurrection 3 days later rendered death impotent against the power and authority of Jesus. Salvation occurs for an individual when they place their faith wholly in Jesus Christ. Salvation is a gift from God - it cannot be earned or purchased.

The Missional Church

The global Church of Jesus Christ is a worldwide body of people declaring the same faith in Him. The local church is a smaller body of people in a geographical area whose mission is to declare the Gospel (good news) message to their community. The church works together in towns, cities, and communities to bring the love of Jesus through serving, caring, loving, and showing Jesus.

Open Handed Doctrines

Interpreting and understanding the Bible, guided by the Holy Spirit, is a life long and complex process. Many differences in doctrine have occurred through studying the Word of God. The above statements are beliefs that we do not compromise on, they are firm. There are, however, areas of study that we hold with an open hand, that we will not allow to divide us. These may include: doctrines of eschatology; doctrines of election; doctrines of specific spiritual gifts; and doctrines of creation.
